New Delhi: Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy on Friday told the Supreme Court that Home Minister P Chidambaram as the then finance minister had given his nod for the allocation of extra spectrum to service providers even before they had fulfilled their roll out obligations.
Swamy told the apex court bench of Justice GS Singhvi and Justice KS Radhakrishnan that the former communications minister A Raja has been already charged for under pricing the spectrum and Chidambaram was party to Raja’s decision to allocate extra spectrum even though the service providers had not fully utilised the spectrum that was already with them.

2G: SC to hear petition against Chidambaram

New Delhi: The Supreme Court is expected to hear on Wednesday a petition against Union Home Minister P Chidambaram in the 2G spectrum allocation case filed by Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy.
Swamy has been demanding a CBI probe against the Home Minister and make him an accused in the case.
On April 4, a Delhi court had cleared Chidambaram’s name in the 2G spectrum allocation scam stating that he will neither be investigated nor made a co-accused in the case.
The Supreme Court had earlier cancelled all the 122 2G spectrum licences granted by former telecom minister A Raja in 2008.

New Delhi: Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy seems to have trained all his guns on Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram. Talking about his petition that will be heard in Supreme Court on Wednesday, Swamy said, “The case is basically based on the basis that A. Raja and Chidambaram decided the low rates of the licences. Chidambaram was involved with Raja in the auction of the licences.”

Apex court reserves order on Chidambaram in 2G case
By IANS,New Delhi : The Supreme Court Tuesday reserved its order on whether to issue a notice to union Home Minister P. Chidambaram on a plea of Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy seeking to make him a co-accused along with former telecom minister A.Raja in the 2G pricing case.
The apex court bench of Justice G.S. Singhvi and Justice K.S. Radhakrishnan also reserved the order on Centre for Public Interest Litigation (CPIL) plea for a court-monitored CBI probe into Chidambaram’s role as the then finance minister in deciding 2G spectrum prices.
Swamy has challenged special CBI Judge O.P. Saini rejecting Swamy’s plea to make Chidambaram a co-accused. The special CBI court is trying the 2G scam accused by holding day-to-day hearing.

“One more scam in 2G: Defence released spectrum on conditions. Yet PC /Raja gave 6.2 MHz free of cost to companies flouting conditions. Watch,” reads Swamy’s tweet from her personal Twitter account.
The new allegation is an addition to the list of accusations hurled by Swamy against Chidambaram. Earlier the Janata Party chief had moved the Supreme Court and also claimed that Chidambaram had given his nod for the allocation of extra spectrum to service providers even before they had fulfilled their roll out of obligations.

Lok Sabha Adjourned after Calls for Chidambaram’s Resignation

The demand for dismissal of Home Minister P. Chidambaram in the wake of allegations against his son Karti’s dealings in a telecom company stalled proceedings in the Lok Sabha on Friday with agitated BJP, JD(U) and AIADMK members storming the well.Demands for dismissing Chidambaram were made by the agitating members as soon as the house met for the day leading to an adjournment till noon.
“Chidambaram has indulged in massive corruption. He should be dismissed as home minister immediately,” BJP leader Yashwant Sinha said.
When the house reassembled, similar scenes were witnessed with AIADMK and JD(U) members raising slogans demanding that Chidambaram step down or the government sack him.
As the members were unrelenting, Speaker Meira Kumar adjourned the House till 2 pm.
The Home Minister was not present in the house.

Scan Chidambaram’s Aircel role: Swamy
New Delhi: Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy today levelled fresh allegations against Home Minister P Chidambaram, accusing him of delaying permission for the sale of Aircel to Malaysia-based Maxis in 2006 when he was Finance Minister so that his son Karti was financially benefitted.Swamy shot off a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh seeking Chidambaram’s resignation and directing CBI to include the names of the Minister and his son in the FIR on Aircel-Maxis deal along with former Telecom Minister Dayanidhi Maran.
If this is not done, the told a press conference, he will approach court seeking a direction in this regard.
Karti, who is said to be abroad, could not be contacted for his comments.
Swamy alleged that there was a “dubious transaction” between a firm “controlled” by Karti and Aircel in March 2006, just before Maxis’ investment of Rs 4,000 crore.

Supreme Court gives government time till August 31 for auction of 2G licences
The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday fixed August 31 as the deadline for completion of auction to reallocate the 122 2G spectrum licences which it cancelled on February 2. The judgement had not fixed any clear deadline for auction but it was imperative to reallocate spectrum before June 2 to ensure continuity in services.
In what comes as a lifeline for the beneficiaries of the illegal allotment of licences, a Bench presided over by Justice G. S. Singhvi said the existing licences for 2G spectrum will continue to be operational till September 7, 2012, after which they would effectively stand quashed. Though the court had held the allotment to be “wholly arbitrary, capricious and contrary to public interest”, it had stressed in its February 2 judgment that the quashing of licences would come into effect after four months i. e. June 2.
